I Heart Faces: Oh So Silly!

Do you ever take a photo and instantly know it's going to be a favorite for a very long time?

About a year and a half ago, we were at a fall carnival that my oldest's orthodontist was hosting.  David was tolerating happy just hanging out in the Bjorn while Eli and Ruby played games.  Ruby won these glasses and, being the sweet sister that she is, wanted to share with her little brother.  I knew Dave wasn't going to tolerate them long, so I grapped the camera, turned it towards my chest, and captured this.  Both big kids got a good laugh because it was...OH SO SILLY!

Head over to I Heart Faces for some more laughs!

Vegetarian

Let me preface this by saying, Ruby, my 5 year old, has been a vegitarian most of her life.  Trust me, this is nothing we have encouraged, she is just not a huge fan of meat.  The past 6 months or so, she has been getting better about at least trying the meat-- especially if she's allowed to dip it in ketchup.

This morning at the breakfast table there was some discussion about last nights dinner (maple/ almond chicken, rice, and green beans, just in case you were wondering).  Eli used the term "chicken breasts" to describe our main course.  A heated discussion ensued and I said, "Yes Ruby, you ate chicken breast last night".  Then she proceeds to grab herself in the upper region and say, "chicken breasts?".  I then confirmed and she gave me the biggest look of disgust.  (It is kind of weird if you think about it too long).  Yep, I'm thinking that Ruby might return to her vegetarian ways tonight!

Happy Noon Year, the 2011 edition

For the third year in a row, we ventured to the Indianapolis Children's Museum to celebrate "Noon Year".

We began with assembling some ancient Chinese artifacts...

and wearing some hats (and goggles) which one little guy was not too thrilled about!

We put on our scuba gear and went swimming in the coral reef...

and found some choo- choo trains.

Then it was time to count down!  (This was Ruby's favorite part and most definitely the least favorite part for all the boys!)

Snow angels in the confetti has become quite the tradition!

OK, so I've debated telling this story, but most of you reading are moms, so I think you have the stomachs for it.  I lined these four guys up and then noticed a large pile of, hum... how should I say this... okay, poo.  I found a pile of poo in front of the sign.  A museum employee noticed about the same time I did and so we joked a bit about how his day just got a whole lot more difficult (he was a really good guy).  Then it was time for a restroom break before we explored more museum.  I took David into the restroom and discovered that he had had quite the blowout.  Meaning, yep, that pile in front of the sign was most likely his.  Ugh!  Talk about embarrassing mommy moments!

After David got a costume change, we headed to the top floor for a little science (Dave loved the water table.  I wonder why!)

(I just thought this was so sweet the way David grabbed his dad's hand!)

Eli and Ruby enjoyed some hula-hooping...

and then it was time for the carousel.

After quite a bit of waffling, Eli decided he was willing to wait in the long line for the Yule Slide....

and Jason, David, and I had a little race (can you tell who won?).

Per Eli's request, we went into the gift shop (That kid's got Christmas money burning a hole in his pocket!) where David enjoyed the train table and cleaning up confetti!

As chaotic as it was at times, I am really thankful that we all went, especially since none of us made it to the real countdown!

Chuck E. Cheese & the Ring

Many moons ago we got a coupon... for Chuck E. Cheese... and the kids saw it before I could hide it in the bottom of the trashcan.
So we promised them that we would take them before the coupon expired on December 31, 2011.  December 31, 2011?  We've got plenty of time!

Until December 30th, when we didn't have plenty of time.  So, we took the kids to Chuck E. Cheese.
At first, it was a very normal trip.  Rides...

the climby thing...

over-stimulation melt downs.. and then, it happened.  Jason discovered that his wedding ring was gone.  We hunted, we alerted the staff, we hunted some more... nothing.

Jason overheard something that made him suspect that someone else may have found the ring, so a few days later, I checked at a pawn shop two doors down from Chuck E. Cheese.

Sadly, Jason's ring was not there (or maybe that's a good thing?  I haven't decided yet), but I discovered a new ring that I thought he might like.

(BTW, when did my hands start to look so old?!)

So, I put the cold stuff from Aldi's in my market day bag and hid the ring inside along with the groceries.  I took the bag inside and asked Jason to help me put things away.  And that is where he found his new ring.

May this one last him (at least) another 12 1/2 years!
