I Heart Faces: Oh So Silly!

Do you ever take a photo and instantly know it's going to be a favorite for a very long time?

About a year and a half ago, we were at a fall carnival that my oldest's orthodontist was hosting.  David was tolerating happy just hanging out in the Bjorn while Eli and Ruby played games.  Ruby won these glasses and, being the sweet sister that she is, wanted to share with her little brother.  I knew Dave wasn't going to tolerate them long, so I grapped the camera, turned it towards my chest, and captured this.  Both big kids got a good laugh because it was...OH SO SILLY!

I Heart Faces: Let Them Be Little

Posted by Picasa

This week's I Heart Faces Challenge is "Let Them Be Little".

I love the contrast between the huge, graffitied alley and my itty, bitty boy in his Superman jammies.

There are days as a SAHM that I wish the kids were big enough to... (fill in the blank), but, looking at this photo, I just want to freeze time.

I Heart "Hands"

Posted by Picasa

This week I Heart Faces changes the focus to hands.

This photo was taken of David at the grand re-opening of a local indoor playground.  I love how the photo captures his reflection and those chubby little "toddler hands".

I Heart Faces: A Touch of Sun

Posted by Picasa

It has become a tradition around here to go to Brown County State Park on St. Patrick's Day.  We find our favorite trail, hike down, splash in the creek, hike back up, and have lunch in the shelter.  Oh yes, and Mom takes an obnoxious about of photos!

I love this photo from earlier this year.  You've got Eli climbing (very normal) and the sun just barely peeking through the tall trees.  The "touch of sun" definitely makes the photo!

I Heart Faces: Back to School

Posted by Picasa

This week's I Heart Faces challenge is "Back to School".  (Although it seems a bit odd since we've been back to school for 3 weeks now!)

I love this photo of Ruby as she is waiting for the bus before her first day of kindergarten!  I will always look at this photo and remember how she had just gotten over chicken pox.  I will remember how her nose was running like crazy due to her allergies (and how she wasn't sure if her teacher would have Kleenex:).  And I will remember that Jansport backback she picked out, with as cute as it was, was about 1/2 the size of her whole body!

What back-to-school memories do you have?  Share them in this week's photo challenge...

I Heart Faces: White

This week's I Heart Faces photo challenge is "white". This is one of the first photos I thought of. David was about 3 months old in this photo. I remember sitting in the adarondak chair, watching his siblings play and holding him on my lap. I remember thinking how beautiful the sky looked that day and how cool it would be if I could make it look like David was it the sky. So... ever so carefully... I palmed David with my right hand and quickly shot the photo with my left. It was a bit nerve-wracking, but I'm so pleased with the way it turned out (I even love the fact that you can see me in his eyes if you look closely)!

I Heart Faces: Beautiful Eyes

Posted by Picasa
I know that I am completly biased, but I think Ruby has some of the most beautiful eyes I have ever seen!

The week Eli was at camp, David, Ruby and I went up to the Children's Museum and met Jason at Chick-fil-A for dinner.  Once again, we lucked into Kid's Night.  Ruby chose this princess tiara to be painted onto her face and I had to get a picture.  The way she looked up at me with those big blues just makes me melt!

I Heart Faces: Friendship

Posted by Picasa

I had several nice "friendship" photos, but I just kept coming back to this one.

One year ago (almost exactly), we packed up ourselves and our three children (the youngest of which was three months old) and flew to Colorado to see my cousin Cassie get married.

Ruby developed a friendship with this little boy almost instantly! They both enjoyed climbing, running, and swinging on their tummies.  Even now when Ruby saw this photo she said, "Ah, I loved him so much!".  If only he didn't live 4 states away:)

I Heart Face: Best Face of February

Posted by Picasa

This photo was taken taken on Ruby's pirate day at preschool. She was SO very excited about dressing up and having a treasure hunt! And I was so very happy to create this photo to help her remember her special day. Head on over to iheartfaces to see all the other "Bests" of February.

iheartfaces: Anything But a Face

Posted by Picasa

This week's challenge was SO hard for me; I have TONS of photos I love that don't involve a face! In the end, I decided to go with this one. This is a photo of my nephew, Jordan, digging into his first birthday cake. I love the chubby little legs, the fat baby hands, and the icky icing! Head on over to I Heart Faces to see more awesome photos, but don't expect to see a face:)

I Heart Faces: Red

Posted by Picasa
Today I am a happy girl! I just found out that you can now go to your photos in Picasa, take them to Picnik, edit them, and then send them back to Picasa. How exciting is that?!?!
So I digress.. this "red" photo was taken of my eight year old, Eli, at the Indianapolis Children's Musuem's "Noon Year" festivities. Last year he and his sister spontaneously made confetti angels-- for which Ruby ended up in the Indianapolis Star. This year, they had to be coaxed a bit, but I think this still turned out great.

I Heart Faces: Heart

Posted by Picasa
This week's iheartfaces photo challenge is "Hearts". Although this is a very literal translations, I really love this photo taken last year of my two sweethearts to send to grandparents. To me, there is something hauntingly beautiful about Ruby's eyes. It doesn't hurt that they're also sitting smack-dab next to each other and not fighting! LOL.
