Today is the last Wednesday of Lent. I set a goal of exercising every day, for 40 days to give myself a small taste of the sacrifice of Jesus' actions. Here is what I have learned through the journey...
1. Even walking for 40 mins, in 40 degree temperatures, with stinging rain beating down on you, pales in comparison to Good Friday. WOW!
2. The more you exercise in front of your children, the more they want to exercise themselves.
3. Not every friend is going to be happy for you when you tell her you lost weight.
4. My family does not feel neglected, or slighted, or love me any less just because I exercised some evenings instead of sitting down and watching a movie with them.
5. Regular exercise makes a huge difference emotionally and physically. I'm less overwhelmed, happier with my physical appearance, and exerience less chronic pain.
What have you "learned along the journey" (weight loss related or not)?
Wonderful post!! I need to get moving but its always hard to take that first step!
ReplyDeleteGood for you Christine! And, I am so sorry not everyone is as excited as they should be that you are making changes for the better for you life and your family. Sad isn't it? But, it's typically because it's too convicting to the person because they AREN'T making those same choices. Well done girl, well done.
ReplyDeleteI gave up sodas for lent. It took a whole lot of thought to not just order a coke. It made it easier for me not having them at home but I would have major cravings. I can't imagine the suffering that Jesus went through for us. There is nothing that we can do here on Earth that will show us what he went through but Lent is a good way to start.
ReplyDeleteI sure hope this made sense.
And Thank You Christine! You are an inspiration to me. I've been trying to exercise everyday but I often find myself having not done so at the end of the day. I have also found it very frustrating to find that I am not losing weight like I thought I would. I don't know that people aren't happy for you I think it is probably more that they aren't losing weight and exercising like they should and it bothers them. I hope that no one said anything too negative. Keep up the good work. Miss you. And Happy Easter!
ReplyDeleteWow! Those are some great lessons! I especially love the one about walking in the stinging rain pales in comparison to Good Friday. What a great lesson for all of us! Blessings as you continue in your weight loss journey. And thanks for joining Weight Loss Wednesday!
